Located in Gardner, Massachusetts—The Chair City— Gardner Golf Course is a municipally owned golf course in northern Worcester County, just 30 minutes north of Worcester along the scenic Route 2 corridor.
The course occupies the old Miller Family Farmland and winds through wooded terrain around Crystal Lake Reservoir, delivering a classic New England golf experience in a naturally scenic setting. The original nine holes opened in 1936 as part of a Works Progress Administration project and were expanded to 18 holes in 1965. Over the years, the course has proudly hosted multiple Massachusetts Golf Association and United States Golf Association qualifiers, as well as MIAA State and District Golf Championships—demonstrating the course’s reputation as a fair and accessible venue for championship play.
With four sets of tees, Gardner Golf Course accommodates golfers of all abilities. Beginners can enjoy a playable 4,898 yards, while more experienced players can challenge themselves from the back tees at 6,131 yards (Par 71).
The front nine offers a generous, welcoming start before the back nine transitions into a tighter, hillier layout that winds along Crystal Lake. Both nines feature small, well-protected greens—making par on any hole a score worth earning.
After your round, golfers are invited to unwind on the clubhouse’s second-story deck, the perfect place to relax, take in the weather, and enjoy views of the surrounding landscape—an ideal setting to reflect on the day’s play.
Gardner Golf Course is the perfect place to spend the day.
